KACOBO

Kacobo is a non- profit organization, working in the Mzimba district, in the northern rural of Malawi, aiming to bring back girls to gain an education after dropping out due to early marriages.

MISSION & HISTORY.

Katula CBO is located at Emutelera Village along M1 road to Karonga boma in the Northern part of Malawi,40Kms from Mzuzu city, in group village Headman Wilson Here under Inkosana George Jere of Traditional authority Mtwalo-Mbelwa District council in Malawi.

Katula CBO is registered with Malawi Government under district social welfare, here is the certificate number MZN/SW/17/02/20

The mission of Katula CBO is multifaceted, it seeks to use education as a tool to empower the community.

Specifically, through Education, Katula CBO works to:

Ending childhood marriage and pregnancy to young girls who drop out of school and get married because of some harmful Cultural practices and Poverty.
Combating gender-based violence by empowering women.
Cultural preservation through traditional dance's Ingoma and Vimbuza)food, languages, and dressing.

Katula community is located in Mzimba North, where many people believed on cultural practices, this influence girls to get early marriages and pregnancy as the results they drop out of school hence ending up being wives.

Many men in Mzimba go to South Africa searching for green pasture, once they find work end up ignoring wives by not sending basic needs to wives, as the results Children especially girls end up dropping school because of school fees, writing materials, and school bags.

In Mzimba like Malawi at large many people depend on tobacco as green gold,some cure tobacco

CHALLENGES.

Long distance's to school by girls walking for 5 hours by footing,as the results they drop out of school.
No funds to pay school fees for Community day secondary School students,buying school uniform and writing materials to 400 identified needy Children in Mzimba North district (Vulnerable, Children from poor families and Orphans)
No transportation to leach out to most rural areas of Mzimba district on compaigning on gender based violence, Environmental conservation and Cultural preservation.
No computers to keep different information on organizations objectives.
No funds to assist women on farming to buy fertilizer to be safe independent.
No funds to educate women's with different skills of business later assisting them with small loans with little interest.
